Cool day!!!

Today we met up with my nephews Tyler and Tanner at the skate park. It was colder then I think we all anticipated and before long it started lightly snowing. It snowed just enough to make the ground wet and soggy. Ick!!! Rumor has it, it is suppose to snow more Sunday and maybe even Monday. It was nice getting to send some time with the nephews. We don't get to see much of them during the school part of the year, everyone is to busy. Life is too busy. We will have to visit again soon. Hopefully with Jake Al and Dom too.

Mikie is back home...

Mikie's forth day in DC was all about the parade. Here at home we watched C-Span and all other channels covering the Inaugural Parade, in anticipation to see the EHS Band and Color Guard March, play and sing their way through the streets. Three hours of watching and eagerly waiting to see them coming down the street, so I could hit record on the VCR and all they got was less then 30 seconds of air time. Personally I was hoping for a couple of minutes or so. But from what I did see, I think they did a great job and I'm very proud of all of them. I certainly hope this was a positive experience and one they will be talking about for years to come. A huge thank you to all of the chaperones, teachers, and principal for bringing our kids home safe. It sure was great having Mikie home again.

Mikie's third day in DC...

I hadn't heard from Mikie all day, so I looked on the itinerary I printed off the website and found out when they would be back at the hotel and called him. He was the one to answer the phone. I asked him how Midieval Times was and he replied "it sucked". I'm not sure why it sucked, perhaps the show wasn't as good as the one he saw in California a few years earlier. IDK He seemed to be in a hurry, he was on his way out to enjoy the indoor pool, so our conversation was brief. I told him good night and that I loved him and I would be watching for him tomorrow in the parade. I hope the rest of his night goes better. He did say he took pictures to day. Whoo Hoo...

Mikie called me from a spaceship...

This morning at 8:00am our time, Mikie cheerfully calls my from his cellphone to let me know he is in a spaceship. They were taking a tour of the Smithsonian Museum and him and some of his friends were taking a ride in this ship. Unfortunately he had forgotten to take the camera I had sent with him, which had plenty of memory cards and plenty of batteries. That little stinker. Anyways, then he calls later from Toby's Dinner Theater, where he ate shrimp, prime rib and cheese cake, while watching Sophisticated Ladies. So far it sounds like he is having a wonderful time. I'm so happy he got the chance to go. I'm also happy to say the Pensky truck with all of their uniforms, instruments, and rest of their luggage made it to DC safe and on time. Great Job, Laura and Charlie...

Mikie has touched down in DC.

This morning Mike and I took our son Mikie to PDX airport. Where he caught his first plane ever and took it all the way across the US, to Washington DC. Where he and 149 other Evergreen High School Band and Color Guard students will embarking on the experience of a lifetime. On Tuesday the 20Th please join me in watching the Inaugural Parade. Where I will be eagerly watching for the Evergreen Marching Band and Color Guard to take to the streets and play and sing for all to enjoy. I'm very proud and happy that Mikie got this chance, and I'm sure there will be wonderful stories that can be handed down from generation to generation.

A special thanks to all that have worked so hard to make this trip possible. A thanks to all of the staff and chaperones in DC watching over and keeping our kids safe. A thanks to all of the wonderful people that stepped up and helped this once in a life time chance happen. And last but certainly never least a thanks to all of the hard working students. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with y'all while you're away.
